Silverman, Shirley
March 25, 1931 - Aug. 17, 2017
Shirley Silverman, 86, of Sarasota Florida, our beloved Dearma; our devoted Gators, Bucs and Rays fan; our Matriarch with the Doris Day smile and Pollyanna charm, passed from this world on Thursday, August 17th, to join her beloved husband, Alvin, in the peace and harmony of the where-ever-after.
Born on March 25, 1931 to Morris and Lillian Plotkin, Shirley met the love of her life, Alvin "Greenie" Silverman, when she was just fifteen. They were married on May 28th, 1950, and shared 54 years of complete devotion to each other – raising a family and running a business in Baltimore Maryland, and spending blissful retirement years in Long Boat Key, Florida. Some of their happiest and most memorable moments came in their younger years on the beaches of Atlantic City, New Jersey and rooting for the Baltimore Colts at Memorial Stadium.
Shirley is survived by her two children, Sydnee Boyd and husband, Robert, of South Hero, Vermont; and Steven "Skip" Silverman, MD and wife, Bonnie, of Sarasota, Florida. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Laurie Waldron and her husband, Joshua, of Tampa, Florida; Jackson Boyd of Chicago, Illinois; and Danny Silverman of Los Angeles, California. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Morris and Lillian Plotkin, and her husband, Alvin "Poppy" Silverman in 2004.
She will be sadly missed by the many relatives and friends whose lives were brightened by her ebullient and uplifting personality, as well as her family of friends and fellow worshippers at Temple Beth Sholom.
Service at Temple Beth Sholom 1050 S. Tuttle Ave. Sarasota, FL 34239, noon Sunday, August, 20th. Graveside burial at Temple Beth Sholom Cemetery and Shiva the Silverman family home.

We have fond memories of Shirley. Dick and Alina Matz.

Dear Silverman Family,

I have found memories of going to the Baltimore Colts games with your family for many years with my brother, Buz.

Shirley was a rabid fan, and a fun loving person. I still have the parking pass with Al's name on it for the games.

May the peace that comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead.

Skippy, Sydnee, Bonnie, & family,
