Well, I have returned from Lee's Funeral. He died Monday night the 20th of September of heart failure. It was a very large and beautiful funeral. Sandra is very lonely. You need to reach out to her now. Blow a gentil breeze across her cheek.

Hey Mama,
I know that I am a dirty rat for telling you this but, You should be here now. We are really enjoying your Florida home, boat rides, beach and golf. I think about how much you would have enjoyed it here now also but, I realize that you would only enjoy it as long as one of us could have been here with you. It is NO FUN to be here by oneself.

There are days when I can't NOT think of you -- those days when every flower, every raindrop, every smell from the kitchen makes me pause and wish I could talk to you and you would answer me (as in my dreams).
We all share the pain of missing you. I think of David, Larry, Brenda and Theresa's families that all share an empty place at table from time-to-time.

I bet that you thought that I forgot Mother's Day and Memorial Day. No, No. You're with me everyday. I know that we have a tree and brick at the Hospis Center but to me that is a "Memorial". I chopped out an old tree stump, planted a little flower garden and put a little white Fence around it. That is your garden and your place. I'll not forget to to take care of your garden.

Brenda writes just like you have always done -- I keep coming across your notes as I pack boxes for our return to Cherryville. Here's your note from one of your trips to the Goose Farm: "The wind is moaning outside, maybe it will bring the large willow limb down. This Sunday would have been your 88th Birthday. We would have taken you to dinner and maybe even the Carosel Dinner Theater. The weather should be nice, around 65 and partly sunny. The daffodils are still in bloom and the Tulips are opening. The robins are home.

One Year. I haven't forgotten. Not one day goes by that I don't say, " Mother should this.", "Mother would love that bird's song." "I need to call Mom." You will be forever on my mind.

Merry Christmas! It will be a different Christmas this year, but I know you would not miss it for the world! I did the same with my cross, it was really nice of Theresa to get the crosses. I felt you were with me the whole time even though I knew you were there anyways. I really miss you this Christmas!
