I knew the sidney that you talked about when he was incarcerated...it's true what you say...he made everyone laugh. He turned out to be a great friend and one hell of a volleyball player...he and I talked so many times of his past..we made the best of our present, and made plans for our future...it saddened me to hear of his passing..he is truly missed..I will continue prayers for his children and family...

Sid and Kelly,
I am saddened to learn of the passing of Sidney. The struggles that your families have felt through your most difficult times must have felt like an eternity.
I pray and hope that everyone can move forward in a short period of time.
I remember the joy that he brought to you watching him play baseball.

Dear Mom,
I just read and watched your story about your beautiful son on Boston WCVB FB page.
I too share your pain. I lost my daughter to addiction, exactly 7 months today.
Lianna, was a ray of sunshine and had a smile that would light up a room.
The pain is real the pain is insurmountable.
Lianna, became addicted to pills after numerous spinal surgeries from a car accident.
My heart breaks for you.
If you would like to reach out to me, know that you are not alone!
Forever in our ‘s

Thank you for sharing Sidney and your families story through your grieving and pain. I know personally all too well this story but that doesn't make the pain lessen. Even though I do not personally know you I am touched and affected by your story and I thank you for that and you are in my prayers.

Such power and reverence in your genuine and pure obituary. Never feel alone in your loss, as many are on your side and equally share in the pain you must feel at this unfortunate time. Take solace in the fact that he is free of the forces that had control for some time, but find peace in knowing he is free of all of that, and can rest forever in God's graces. We cannot control some of the things life brings into our lives, and we only forge ahead to whatever destiny lies in our path. Let him now rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior and continue to celebrate all the good he brought into your life, and will continue to though he may not physically be here. Memories are the strongest medicine we can give to ourselves.....just what they would want for us. You will see, smell and feel things that bring him to mind. That's worth all the gold in the world. My sincerest condolences.

I happened by Sidney obituary. I started to read it as a man as young as this ...As I read through it I thought how many young people never know what this part feels like. I am sorry that he lost his battle to addiction he sounded wonderful...he is now wrapped in the bosom of Abraham safe and free. God Bless your family for sharing this in such a wonderful way.

Our Sincere condolences to you, Sidney and Kelly, and your families on your loss. Sidney Jr. was a dear friend and Brother Sheet Metal Worker. He loved and always spoked highly of Sidney IV and was always optimistic about his future. I am glad the family decided to tell his story. The author of the obituary did a wonderful job.
We can only hope that those that read it come to understand that addiction is no different than heart disease. It’s a disease and should be treated the same, with empathy and compassion.
May he Rest In Peace.

It takes much courage to tell your story. I stumbled across Sidney’s obituary on NOLA. I once was in a situation like yours with my son. He’s been 8 years clean.
My Sincere Prayers and Thoughts to his Family. May the Love of Our Great God continue to Bless.
