Sidney Critt Collier, Sr., age 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Marion, VA on Friday, May 30, 2025.


Sid was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Oma Lee Collier; his parents, Lottie Louise Collier and Bradley Critt Collier; his sister, Evelyn Cleo Dingus; and his beloved companion, Lucky .


A dedicated broadcaster, Sid built a meaningful career in radio journalism. He began at WBBI in Abingdon, VA, and went on to serve as news and public affairs director at several stations including WEBJ in Elizabethton, TN, WOPI in Bristol, and FM 94 in Marion. He concluded his broadcasting journey as a trusted voice reading the news for Z103.5 and Rock 102, both in Marion, VA.


Beyond radio, Sid found fulfillment in various roles that connected him to his community. He worked as a taxi driver for Diamond Cab, where he valued his time with owners Willis and Vickie Bridgeman. He also served as a deputy in Carter County, TN, proudly contributing to public safety.


Sid will be remembered for his voice, his service, and his dedication to every path he pursued.


Survivors include two sons, Sidney Critt Collier, Jr. & wife Amanda and Sean Michael Collier; granddaughter, Skyler Nicole Collier and grandson, Dylan Collier; caregiver, Robin Bridgeman; two nephews, Ronnie Dingus and Rodger Dingus; two nieces, Shirley Wolfe and Virginia Frank; special friends: Teresa Pesetti, Melanie Edwards and Richard Widener; K-9 companion, Rex.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 10AM at St. Johns Catholic Church in Marion. Reverend Chris Masla officiating.  Graveside services will be held at Temple Hill Cemetery in Castlewood at 2:30PM. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7PM at Bradley’s Funeral Home in Marion.  Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.  Bradley’s Funeral Home is serving the Collier family.
