A couple of us at GSK were fondly remembering Sieg today. He was my first boss at GSK and he made everything FUN. His enthusiasm was contagious and the days were full of laughter. I think of him often and miss his kindness and those great times we had working together.

I had seen that Sieg had died, but had not seen this obit at NOLA. I was one of Sieg's friends in High School and remeber him well and followed his career via the web from the mid-ninties on. He will be missed.

I had an opportunity to meet Sieg when I was at GSK, he truly inspired me and was fun to be around with. I emailed him couple of times recently but never heard back and it puzzled me because that would not be Sieg. I had lost touch with him after leaving GSK. I am very fortunate having met Sieg and I will always be grateful for everything I learnt from him. He was my mentor who was a kind person and open in his thinking. I feel deeply your loss, but Sieg was one person who will always be remembered in a positive light.

Sieg was one of the few people I remember most fondly from my years at Johns Hopkins, so long ago now. He made me laugh and I even typed--well, "word-processed" (it was the early years)--his doctoral dissertation. I lost touch with him, but kept up enough to know that he was having a tremendous career at GSK. Just a few days ago, I thought I'd see whatever had happened to him...and read the sad news. I will never forget him, and offer my condolences to his family.

Dear members of the family,
I worked with Sieg for a few years in the late ‘90's. Although I lost touch with him after leaving GSK and then leaving the U.S., after moving back to the Philly area recently I thought of him. Sieg had a tremendously positive impact on my career, for which I will always be grateful. I remember him as a selflessly supportive and refreshingly open-minded collaborator and mentor, and someone with whom and at whom I laughed very hard many many times. I feel deeply your loss, and I can only say that I hope that Sieg has rubbed off a bit on many people.

Dear members of the family,
Sieg and I started work at SmithKline and French labs within a few months of each other in 1984. In the ensuing 27 years I had the opportunity to work along side Sieg on many occasions. He was an exceptional individual. A good scientist, a valued collaborator and a man deeply interested in the lives of those around him. Drug discovery was an exciting and meaningful pursuit for Sieg and he pursued it with tremendous enthusiasm and dedication. This dedication to drug discovery was a pursuit that brought us all together and formed a strong bond with his fellow chemists. Sieg was uniquely gifted in his interest and attention to the people, regardless of their position within the company. Sieg took on many tasks to help advance younger chemists, as well as, the non-technical staff that worked to support the scientist in the lab. This was over and beyond what was expected. He poured his whole being into this pursuit. While I did not directly interact with Sieg in the last few years, it was clear in the few times that we did meet that he applied this same intensity and care for his colleagues into the building of the chemistry in China to support VPOC (Virtual Proof of Concept). He had an outstanding career in drug discovery and I am confident that he was looking forward to continuing his work at Tulane.
Most of all I remember all the times we traveled together as senior members of the Medicinal Chemistry Department to England and RTP. Sieg took personal responsibility to make sure that everything went smoothly. He helped to make it an enjoyable experience for all. He had fun as did we. That smile of his said it all and he gave that to all that took the time to get to know him.
My sincere condolences for your loss. We all feel that someone very special has been lost to us on earth. God knows.

Dear Rowena and girls:
I was just contacted with the surprising news of the death of Chris. I hope that the love and support of family and friends will help you through this very difficult time. Diane and I both send you our love and deeepest sympathy. I moved to Pass Christian, MS last March and have been out of touch with you so I had no idea of his illness. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend the funeral tomorrow but I send you my love and prayers for strength and guidance. Sieg was a brillant nephew that gave the medical world many innovative drug formulas. We shall all be thinking of you tomorrow and send you our love. Love, Bonnie, Diane, and our families

I worked with Sieg for a long time in R&D. I will always remember his cheerful outlook, and his ability to tease and take teasing as we went about our tasks. He proved everyday that one doesn't need to sacrifice humanity, humor, or being a normal person, in order to be a bright, creative and hardworking chemist. This loss hits your family hard, but is shared by his many friends from R&D....

So sorry for your loss Ms. Rowena and girls! Wow, haven't seen Sieg since we were just little ones. What I remember is when he was raising those baby alligators! Do any of you remember that? And the other thing I remember is Mr. Siggie playing the banjo! Wow, amazing how many years have gone by. God Bless you all. You will be in my prayers! Again, sorry for your loss!

Mary Kaye and family,
I am so sorry to hear about your brother passing away. I remember how we use to drive him crazy with our silliness, but he was a kind and gentle soul. He accomplished so much and I know you all must be so very proud. I pray that you find comfort in knowing how many people he helped while on this earth.

God Bless You Siegfried !
May your beautiful soul rest in peace, dear nephew, in Heaven. You gave so much to mankind, and I thank you. Your Earthly work will always be with us, to bless and teach us, as will your kind and sweet spirit. You sought to make a better world.
You succeeded !
The last time I spoke to you was on the steps of the church, after your father's, my brother Siggie's, funeral. Now, you are with your Dad , at peace, and you are bringing the same love and joy to Heaven that you brought to all the lives you touched here on Earth. You touched mine. I just wish I could have seen you more often...
You are loved by so many and always will remain in our hearts forever.
Your accomplishments are phenomenal and will live on for the good. Like none other.
I am honored to call you my nephew, Siegfried.
Receive your Eternal Reward now ~ Heaven is rejoicing and all the angels in Heaven are singing GLORY to have you there !!!
Jesus loves you and so do I ,
