I participated as a PhD student in the special year 1970-71 of the Mittag-Leffler Institute, where Sigurdur delivered a main course. Then my wife and I did not live on the grounds of the Institute. Dear Artie, Thor and Anna, I offer you my most heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dear husband and father. I cherish the memories of the times spent discussing mathematics with Sig in his MIT office during my visits to Boston. His books and papers have been a constant source of knowledge and inspiration for me ever since I started studying them as a graduate student. They will continue to be.
