Hillcrest Funeral Home Burial Park & Cremations - San Antonio Obituary

Silvia Barrera, born on March 16, 1965, in Crystal City, Texas, was called to be with the Lord on April 11, 2025, at the age of 60.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Virginia Barrera; and her brothers, Alejandro Barrera, Manuel Barrera Jr., Gilberto Barrera, Daniel Barrera, and Ricardo Barrera.

Silvia and her devoted husband, Jesus Espinoza, shared a beautiful journey together as seasonal farm workers, traveling between Texas and North Dakota. In 2007, they chose to settle in Wahpeton, North Dakota, where they bought a home filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Silvia and Jesus were more than husband and wife—they were true best friends, always side by side and often traveling together, enjoying life’s simple and grand adventures.

Silvia’s love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds. She treasured every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be cherished forever—from holiday gatherings filled with laughter to quiet afternoons simply spent together. She had a way of making everyone feel special, always showing up with a joke, a story, or a sweet treat in hand. Her contagious laugh could light up a room, and her blend of tough love and playful shenanigans brought both comfort and joy to those around her. Whether it was teasing her loved ones with a sparkle in her eye.

For the past eight years, Silvia worked as a clerk at Dollar Tree, where she became a familiar and beloved face in the community. She had a natural way of making people feel welcome, always greeting each customer with a warm smile and kind heart. Her friendly presence and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who walked through the door.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Jesus Espinoza; her daughters, Dezirae Espinoza (Tj Kline), and Cheyanna Espinoza; her sons, Jesse Espinoza and Daniel Espinoza; her sisters, San Juanita Flores (Alonzo Flores), and Emilia Buentello; her beloved grandchildren, Geneaya, Christianna, Aaliyha, Amari, Demi, Joey, Joel, and Cruz; and her cherished furr babies, Mamas, Zoey, Baby Blackjack, Lino, and Max. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and dear friends who will deeply miss her vibrant spirit.

Silvia’s presence in our lives was a blessing, and her memory will forever live on in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home.
For those who cannot attend in person, the Rosary will be livestreamed at:
