Just learned about your loss. I worked for Dr. Blakney back in the 70's when he chaired the Department of Mathematics at UT. He encouraged me to go back to school which I did. He was such a class act. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of Dr.Blakney. I had the honor of meeting him through their son, one of my dearest friends, Will Blakney. He and Mrs. Blakney welcomed me into their home and treated me like family. I feel blessed to have met him. My condolences to his entire family.

We were in sorrow when we learned of Simmie's death. The memorial service made clear Simmie's academic achievements, but also his role as husband, father, and man.
