Not sure what to say?

This is far too late, but, to my dismay, I only found this news today. Mr. Sargon and his works which include horn were the subject of my doctoral dissertation at UNT (many of which he himself recorded at the piano with Greg Hustis [on horn] and other wonderful DSO and SMU artists collaborating). What a genuine pleasure to be able to have interviewed and received feedback from such a prolific and talented living composer! Our few meetings were marked by his graciousness and curiosity. He...

I am very saddened to learn of the passings of Si Sargon -- whom i first met on the shores of Winthrop Beach, Mass, in about 1950 -- at time when we were independently involved in piano -- and specifically at the time, in playing the Mozart's D minor concerto. We had fleeting correspondence and phone calls over the years -- the last letters exchanged in January 2021 - yet those few meetings of the mind were most meaningful - signifying the depth of a friendship that was strong even...

Dear Bonnie, I had no idea until today as I was doing research for the 50th Anniversary of Kendal and the Kendal Singers of Simon's passing. My heart cries for you. The wonderful few days we four spent together including the time at Longwood Gardens, and the preparation and premiere performance of Simon's "For Everything There Is a Season" here at Kendal were beautiful experiences I will never forget, nor will the singers in that performance. And to have you both attend a performance of my...

My condolences to Simon's family. He was a dear friend and colleague at SMU. I am sure he will be remembered fondly by many appreciative students and colleagues.

Professor Sargon was a true gentleman that possessed a spirit that was so caring, effervescent, and worldly that one just wanted to be around and smile with him. SMU and this world will miss him very much.

I am saddened to learn that Simon has died. Our paths crossed many times. It was my pleasure to perform under his baton at Temple Emanuel, to have some of his works entrusted to my copy, and as educational colleagues at SMU. He was a huge musical talent and a quiet, humble, and wonderful human being. My condolences to all of you in his family. Chuck Mandernach

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Simon was a fine composer, colleague, and friend. But he was an even better man. Much love, Jack
