Sofia M. Dooley

Sofia was my first grade teacher and we have enjoyed many years of close friendship. We traveled to Europe, worked on political campaigns, attended operas and spent many pleasant times together. She was a joy and inspiration imparting her knowledge and wisdom over the many years we knew each other. She had a positive impact on my life and I cherish the fond memories. I met Sofia Dooley in 1978 when she was president of the Capital Area Guild, a volunteer organization newly founded by her to promote the Lake George Opera Festival. It was during an LGOF production of Tosca at Albany's Palace Theater. By the time I was appointed the company's marketing director later that year, we'd become fast friends.
