Solomon D. Lopes

LOPES, Solomon D. Died in Santa Rosa, CA Monday, May 28, 2001 of complications from cancer. Developmentally challenged, Sol, a very proud man, led an outstanding life, including graduating from school and with the support of Old Adobe Developmental Services held as many as five jobs a week in the community. In addition to recent work at Celebration Bakery he enjoyed working for the City of Petaluma in their programs for the disabled and senior citizens. He was active and successful in Special Olympics and bowled every Thursday with his peers. Traveling with his family was a delight. Adored son of Barbara Lopes-Kerbel. Adored step-son of Arthur Kerbel. Loving brother of Shane, Steve and Stan Lopes and Shonne Payer. Loving brother-in-law of Jennifer Lopes. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and enduring friends throughout the community. Friends and family are invited to meet Saturday, June 2, 2001 at 10:15 a.m. at the ADOBE CREEK FUNERAL HOME, 331 Lakeville St., Petaluma thence to St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mtn. Parkway, Petaluma where at 11:00 a.m. a funeral mass will be celebrated. Friends may call for visitation Friday after 12 Noon at the funeral home. Vigil services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma.
