Sondra published my poem 'So Many Obstacles to Overcome' in Autumn Leaves in the July 2007 issue. May her soul find eternal rest in peace and in love and in tranquility.

I never met Sondra, but wept when I heard the news she passed away. I am a poet, a new poet who Sondra took a chance on publishing. I have since gone on to publish in many other magazines and ezines, but she gave me confidence to submit to other publishers and continue writing. She even sent me a personal note that said I made her laugh and she wanted to see more of my work. I will always remember her for this. Thank you to Mario for his loving tribute to her with the final Autumn Leaves.

I have been thinking alot about Sondra this last little while. I got to know her on the net through alt.native and other discussion boards some 11 years ago. She gave me hope and inspiration to write things as I saw them about my people, life and stories. She had a gentle touch as an editor, a kind heart and her ability to reach out to others reached me all the way here on the Navajo reservation from New Jersey. I am a loss for words except by tradition we mark ourselves with charcoal when...

My deepest sympathies.
Sondra will be deeply missed. Her love, her inspiration, her spirit, her wisdom, her poetry continue and will always remain a legacy to all of us. I never met her in person but she had touched my life. I was touched by the way she appreciated things around her, by the way she saw beauty in every thing. I miss her. We all sorely miss her...

I am thankful for the visit we had last summer, after so many years. I will always remember the lovely, open-spirited woman with long braids and denim overalls. The gentle smile, the great wisdom, the intuitive nature, the poetic expression, the generosity...these things are eternal and will never leave us. My heart breaks for Mario and those who love you so deeply. I look forward to seeing you again on the other side.

Sondra & her husband,Mario, have been our friends for some 29 years. They have been here for us in thick and thin and we for them. Sondra loved her poetry, her Native American concerns, her church, her friends, and mostly her dear family- Mario, Rob, Christine, and her grandchildren. I know she is running through fields of flowers holding Christine's hands now. We will miss you much, but know we will meet again. My son Nick also wants to say that he knows she will be watching over him. She...
