Sondra Kay Boggs, 74, of Beloit, WI, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Sun Valley North. She was born February 28, 1938 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Alan E. and Barbara E. (Sandehn) Spongberg. Sondra was a 1956 graduate of Rockford East High School. She then graduated in 1961 from Beloit College with a B.A. in Philosophy. Sondra married William Franklin Boggs on July 26, 1960 in Dubuque, IA. Together they raised three sons, Nathan Alan (1961), Clayton Andrew (1964-1987) and Timothy Eric (1967). Her passion for music, art, travel, and food took her in many directions. In 1972 Sondra studied at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute in London, England. Later she taught French cooking in Rockford and in her home in Beloit, WI. Sondra also prepared faculty lunches and dinners at Beloit College. She loved classical music and was a member of a Baroque Recorder Group made up of faculty and faculty wives that performed at many college events. Sondra so enjoyed her travels to Mexico and Europe with family. In 1981 she graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing. Survivors include her son, Nate and daughter-in-law Julia, and grandchildren Drew and Claire Bogg of Beloit, WI; son Tim and his wife Gene, and granddaughter Leanna of Commerce City, CO; her brother, Stephen A. Spongberg of Chilmark, MA; and a niece, Nia Spongberg of Ann Arbor, Mi, as well as her step children, Judy, Dennis, Sharon and William and their children and grandchildren, and several cousins. A special thank you to the staff of Sun Valley North and Beloit Regional Hospice for the special care and support that they gave to Mom. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Frank and son, Andy. There will be no services. So sorry to hear about Sondra's passing. My mother, Jeanne Dalzell was a good friend and shared many good times together. Even though I was a youngster, I also have wonderful memories of her. Sympathies and condolences to the family.
