Sonya Marie Fowler, was born on May 16, 1938 in La Farge, Wisconsin to the proud parents of Neal O. & Marie E. Nottestad. She was the youngest of three children. She departed this life on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at her home in Roseville, at the age of 78. Sonya obtained her formal education within the Richland Center School district, graduating Richland Center High at the age of 16. During her High school years she enjoyed making friends as a Majorette, ardently advanced her joy of dancing by taking tap and ballet classes and pursued her love of movies by taking a job as an usherette at the local movie theater. After high school she furthered her education by attending secretarial business school in Rockford, Illinois. It was in the mid 50's while working as the secretary for the head of Creamery Package Manufacturing, in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin where she met her husband Jack H. Fowler. The two were married and quickly moved to California for Jack's work. As they moved from Wisconsin to California, to Colorado and back to Wisconsin before settling in California, Jack's career in the dairy manufacturing industry grew and so did their family. Sonya was a wonderful homemaker and mother to four sons, all of which inherited her easy and kind spirit. Each son has their own special memories of her, but all recall she was a talented piano player who loved music. Equally so, she had a love for Baseball and Football, cheering on the Oakland A's and naming her beloved cat Raider after the Oakland Raiders. Likewise, they will remember her delicious Norwegian potato flat bread, Lefsa; a recipe taught to her by her mother; who had learned it from her mother and so on. Sonya was also a savvy "Spite and Malice" player who did not hesitate to cut off her own family in a friendly game. Sonya devoted her life to her family, her love of animals, and to her flower garden. The love and support she provided her sons and grandchildren never waned and will never be forgotten. Her finest qualities were her kindness and patience: an inherent ability to listen, to absorb and to offer a point of view based on quiet, measured wisdom. Left to cherish her memory: Devoted sons Charles (Chuck), Dan, Jeff and Steven, lots of loving grandchildren, daughter-n-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. We loved you Mom (Sonya), and will miss you more than words could ever express.
