Aulds Funeral Home - Archer City Obituary

Sonya LaTina Perry Green, age 39, of Woodway, Texas passed away January 10, 2014 in Waco.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Electra with Pastor Ricky McGee, Pastor L.B. Perry and Pastor Clark Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.

The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014, at Aulds Funeral Home.

Sonya was born July 10, 1975 to Verlene Burris Green and Curtis Green in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Early in life, they moved from Electra, Texas to Wichita Falls where she attended Northwest Christian Academy then transitioned to the Wichita Falls Independent Schools. She was an active member of the NAACP Youth Branch. She graduated from Hirschi High School in 1992. After attending the University of Texas in Arlington, she moved to Seminole, Texas. She attended New Mexico Junior College where she received an Associate Degree in Social Sciences and Fine Arts in 2001. The All American Scholar Award was achieved in 2003. She attended the College of the Southwest in Hobbs, New Mexico where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and Science in 2004.

In 2004, she became employed by Halliburton Oil Company in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was head of Procurement. In 2008, she became a stay at home mother. She loved her children dearly.

Having accepted Christ early in life, she grew up attending Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Oklaunion, Texas where she sang in the youth choir and participated in various activities of the church, reciting by memory the old books of the bible.

Cherishing her memory are survivors, Roosevelt Perry from Woodway, Texas who during their union of marriage had one daughter, Rae'Ven LeShan Perry from Woodway, Texas; and one son, Luther Curtis Perry of Woodway; her mother, Verlene Burris Green of Wichita Falls; her father, Curtis Green of Wichita Falls; one sister, Sunny Green of Wichita Falls; and one brother, Gerald Bishop and wife, Tera Rena Martin Bishop of Fredrick, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Isaac Green, Bruce Jones, Cornell Jones, Patrick McGee, Michael McGrew, and Darrin Sanderson.
