RODRIGUEZ, Sonya Zimmerman, departed this life Sunday, April 11, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Rodriguez; parents, Rosalind Z. and Fairbanks J. Smith; one daughter, Tasia; four sons, Joseph Jr., Christopher, Jon and Kobe; two grandchildren, Kalaiya and Klyanna; one sister, Natascha Smith; grandparents, Evelyn Zimmerman and Evelyn and Fairbanks Dabney; extended family, Sabrina Worthy-Busey, Rashida, Jamal, Equilla and Mackei Than; biological father, Joseph Worthy; one sister- in-law, three brothers-in- law; and a host of other family and friends. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull St. Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m. at 31st Street Baptist Church, 823 N. 31st Street, where remains will lie in state at 12 noon. Rev. Frederick Christian eulogist. Family and friends attending services assemble at the church Friday, 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the church or to the children of the deceased.

I remember the first time I met your Mom and I said to her, "I'm Chris' other Mom".Sonya welcomed anyone who tried to help you, she was so proud of you. You've taken on great responsibilities in the face of termoil and you've made us all proud. Jon and Kobe are lucky to have such a wonderful big brother.
