Reichel Funeral Home - Northampton Obituary

Sophie Jane Eckhart, 73, of Nazareth, walked into the arms of the Lord on March 29, 2021. She passed away at her home surrounded by the love of her family. Sophie was born on November 23, 1947 to the late Paul and Pauline Krasnopero. She and her high school sweetheart, Kenneth, celebrated 54 years of marriage on August 20, 2020. Sophie graduated from Nazareth Area High School, Class of 1966. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years before working at Lilly’s Tacos in Nazareth. She then proudly worked for C.F. Martin & Co. in the shipping, binding, and pearling departments before retiring after 26 years. She loved working in her garden, decorating for the holidays, spending time at the family cabin at Pecks Pond, and making precious memories with her family, especially her grandsons.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: a son, Kenneth Jr., and a daughter, Tracy Huffsmith, wife of Mark; two beautiful grandsons, Anthony and Henry; a sister, Yolanda Carhart; two brothers, Ray Spilotros and wife, Teri, and Paul Krasnopero and wife, Pam; many nieces and nephews, close friends, and two outdoor kitties, Tom and Jerry. Sophie will be deeply missed by her loved ones, but she will continue to shine her light on those she left behind.

Services: A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, April 7th at 8:00 p.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Family and friends may gather from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Those in attendance will kindly be requested to practice social distancing and wear a face cover.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be presented to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Sophie. Online condolences may be offered above.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Sophie since our Elementary school days in Roseto and we shared so many "nun" stories. We came full circle years later and shared many laughs. Sophie always had that infectious smile. I know we all have such great memories and she will live in our hearts forever. Rest in peace my friend.
