IGNOTOV, Sophie R. - Of Burton, age 94, died Saturday, February 9, 2008 following a short and peaceful stay at Avalon Hospice. Funeral service will be held at 11:30AM Thursday, February 14, 2008 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2143 South Center Road, Burton. Father Matthew-Peter Butrie officiating. Private Internment will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. A public visitation will be held at 6:30-8:30PM Tuesday and 6-9PM Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Parastas service will be held at 7PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Sophie was born in South Bend, Indiana on September 4, 1913, the daughter of Mile and Boyana (Beslach) Radakovich. She graduated from the University of Michigan with Masters honors in her mid-forties, after having raised her family. She completed her teaching career at the age of 71, her last 20 years at Flint Central High School. She was dedicated to excellence in education. She is survived by her sons, Milan and Daniel of Ohio; brothers, Louis Radick of Milwaukee and David Radakovich of Flint; sister, Boya Polymeros of Minneapolis; along with numerous grand and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Sophie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dushan; sisters, Jovanka and Mildred. My deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Ignotov. She was my english teacher at Central High School. I will always remember her. She was a great teacher.

I graduated from Flint Central in 1973. I had Mrs. Ignotov for English when I was in the 10th grade. I remember the first day of school that year, everyone told me "you have Mrs. Ignotov?!She is HARD!!"...they were right, she was, she also was the best teacher I every had. I never was the best student, I was more interested in boys and clothes but I still remember some of her lessons and I still have an essay from her class, she gave me a D+ then changed it to a C- because "I had a good...

Deepest sympathy to the Ignotov family. Mrs. Ignotov was my English teacher a Central High School. A life well lived.

Milan and Dan, It was a joy to know your mom and I feel priviledged to have been able to visit with her and share memories and interests with her...I know your whole family will miss her greatly but she left many good memories for you all to share...Please accept our condolences....Barbara and Lowell Barlow.
