There was only one reason why I could not attend her funeral and that in fact did happen. I am so distressed I cannot personally share my condolences with MATSUMOTO Sensei's family. Suzy-san, the Grand Dame of Tea, introduced a joy of Chanoyu to so many people with her unique and lovely personality. Her warm and beautiful smile will be missed.

Sosei Matsumoto was my tea ceremony teacher, my mentor, a friend, and most of all, only one of two Chajins (tea people) I had the great pleasure to know.
I met my husband through her, experienced tea ceremony life in Kyoto, learned about life, taught with her and met so many tea friends. We shared tea ceremony with the community through tea demonstrations, narration, and special events like Nisei Week.
