Not sure what to say?

Dear Kathy, Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you as the final chapter of Spences galant efforts to continue his wonderful life with you come to a close. Both of you have frequently been in our thoughts and prayers since we read of his diagnosis two years ago in the Spotlight. Thinking of you, Jude and Tony Hurr

Kathy,

We are sorry to hear of your loss. We too remmember Spence from Sparkys. There are not many left here that even know what a Sparkys was. Every once and a while someone asks if I live in Sparkys old house and I know they are an old timer.
Spence will be remembered as a kind, good person.

Spence was a highly-valued friend and co-worker. He was always available to help and ready to tackle any technical challenge. Spence enjoyed his work and life. I am indebted to him; he helped me and many others to successfully grapple with difficult air quality issues throughout Oregon.

One of my favorite memories of Spence is listening to him tell stories of spending family times at South Twin Lake with Kathy and the children as he looked at the picture of a Twins Lakes cabin and...

Our family would like to express our sympathy to you and your family because of your recent loss of your husband, Spencer. May you draw on the strength and comfort from Almighty God.-Psalm 34:18

Was so sorry to read about Spencer in the paper. It has been a long time and we've all scattered but we do have some fond memories of the days in Scappoose. I can remember the fun times and laughs at Sparky's. Spencer had a great sense of humor. Those were fun times. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. John and Kay

Spence was a very special man and always patient with all of us at the paper. We are so glad to had the opportunity to know him. Kathy, Michelle and Scott know that you are in our thoughts today and send special prayers to all of you.

Dear Kathy,
I was so sorry to read of Spence's passing. I wish you were still here in Scappoose so I could give you a hug! I loved Spence's sense of humor - it was so droll - so intelligent. At the same time, I sensed a kindness about him. I know that you will miss him, but take comfort in knowing that he meant a lot to a whole bunch of people. We're sending our love to you on the wings of all that admiration that we felt for Spence.

Kathy, I am deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Spencer. Days and months turned to years, as I planned to visit both of you at the Scappoose Spotlight after returning home from Air Force life.

Both of you gratiously gave me an opportunity to learn and grow in your fledgling business environment--more than twenty-five years have passed since I worked for you. I find the lessons I learned from Spencer and you, Kathy, apply in the industry and business environment I so carefully...

For many years I car-pooled with Spence to and from work. He was an original! The conversations were lively, educational, and seldom boring, although I remember learning there are 8 bytes to a bit.

I remember him with great affection and I am so sorry to hear of his passing.

Words cannot adequately convey feelings, but to Kathy and Scott, please know this is a long-distance hug.
