REED & BENOIT FUNERAL HOME INC Obituary

Spencer Jeffrey Parsons, 24, of Adams Center was brought home with God on Wednesday morning, April 27, 2016.  Spencer, born on December 3, 1991 was the oldest son of Byron J. and Lisa A. Parsons.  He was the oldest brother to Hailey R. and Pearce A. Parsons.  Spencer was a 2010 graduate from South Jefferson Central School.   He attended Jefferson Community College on a McCann’s scholarship.  After graduating from JCC with an Associate’s Degree in Science, he went on to graduate from Lemoyne College with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  Spencer shared a year of his life as a case manager with Jefferson Rehabilitative Center working with and supporting adults in our community.  In September 2015, Spencer entered New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls and was pursuing a doctoral degree in Chiropractic medicine.

Spencer loved sports and was a member of the soccer, basketball and golf teams at South Jefferson.  He also played soccer and basketball for the JCC Cannoneers.   Spencer’s shortened life cannot be defined by the accomplishments of what he did, or where he went to college.  Spencer will be remembered for the quality of character he possessed.  He was genuine, loving, caring, and charismatic.  His smile, his humor, and his positive personality were infectious to all those around him.  Spencer always tried to do his best and he always brought out the best in others.

In addition to his immediate family members, Spencer is survived by his paternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Barbara Parsons and his maternal grandfather, Frederick C. Langworthy Jr.  Spencer also leaves behind several aunts and uncles; Susan and Joe Viscomi, Julie McDougall, Jane and Dan Hayes,  and Scott Parsons, Frederick C. Langworthy III and Cyndi, Denny and Libbie Langworthy, David and Debbie Langworthy, Noel and Candace Langworthy, Craig and Jane Langworthy, Lori Russell and Edward Mullin, Christian Langworthy, Adam and Kim Nguyen, Leanne and Bob LaBounty, and Lynette and Ty Thomas.  He will also be sorrowfully missed by the many cousins he loved.

Spencer was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Lois Langworthy.

The funeral mass for Spencer will be 11am Monday, May 2nd at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Grove St., Adams, with Rev. Martin Cline officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ellisburg Cemetery.  Calling hours are Sunday, May 1st from 3 pm – 7 pm at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.

Donations made in Spencer’s name to the Spenny15 Scholarship Fund established through the Northern Credit Union in memory of Spencer J. Parsons.

Not sure what to say?

Remembering Spencer and sending love always to Lisa and family. His beautiful light continues to shine through each of you!

Everything the people say about him are all true. He was a true class of a person in every sense of the word. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of the joy he brought me as a friend. Even now, five plus years later I still find it hard to put into words just how great of an individual he was. Never forgotten. Never.

The Sisters of St. Joseph continue to pray for the soul of Spencer. We remember the family always in our prayers. Loss is never easy; however, Spencer is with us all in prayer.

Lisa and Jeff, sending my deepest condolences to you and the entire family. Spencer was a special young man and you know Dad had a soft spot for him. I know he welcomed Spencer with open arms. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
