Spencer LaVerne Davis, 73, husband of Doris Johnson Davis died Monday, March 16, 2020 at his home.
Mr. Davis, who dearly loved his children and grandchildren, was born September 11, 1946 in Norfolk, VA, the son of the late Erma Winstead Williams. His grandfather, “Big Daddy” Winstead also helped raise him. Mr. Davis was a US Army veteran having served two tours in Vietnam as a Green Beret. He had retired from CSX Railroad after more than 40 years of service. He was an avid North Carolina Tarheel fan and loved to play golf.
Surviving Mr. Davis in addition to his wife of the home are, his Sister, Lorene (Johnny) Walston of Wilson, NC; his Children: Kelly (Ronnie) Butler of Tarboro, NC, Marty (Doug) Magnum of Texas and Norman (Kimberly) Edwards, Jr. of Marion; 7 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his Fur Baby, Cocoa.
Visitation and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 18, in the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
