Sister Amalia (Emily) Torres Martin, M.C-M., age 94, of Upland, California, entered eternal rest on August 15, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by the loving presence and prayers of her religious family, the Cordi-Marian Missionary Sisters. She passed away peacefully at Windemere at Westover Hills Nursing Home.


Born on July 10, 1931, to Porfirio Torres and Ramona Martin in Upland, California, Sister Amalia embraced her religious vocation with profound devotion. She entered the convent of the Cordi-Marian Missionary Sisters on December 21, 1950, in León, Guanajuato, Mexico. Her life was a radiant testament to faith, service, and love.


Deeply committed to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, patroness of the Cordi-Marian Missionary Sisters, Sister Amalia ministered with compassion and joy to women, men, and children through Catholic catechetical education and social outreach. She offered steadfast support to various Cordi-Marian communities, always embodying the spirit of unity and grace. Her gentle presence and unwavering dedication will be dearly missed by all who knew and served alongside her.


Sister Amalia is survived by her beloved nieces and their families: Susana Elvira Baxley and her husband, Randy Darrell Baxley, and their children:  Jessica Dennis and her husband, Jeffrey Ronald Dennis, and their children, Isabella Grace Dennis and Grayson Baxley Dennis; Daniel Ryan Baxley and his children, Silas Ryan Baxley and Saylor Emmarie Baxley; Lauren Alidor and her husband, Bernard C. Alidor III, and their children, Harper Elise Alidor and Vera Ann Alidor; Lourdes Teresa Maloney and her husband, Timothy Michael Maloney, and their children: Clara Protteau and her husband, Andrew Joseph Protteau, and their children, Liam Curtis Protteau and Oliver Michael Protteau, Thomas David Maloney and Matthew Phillip Maloney; Celina Torres Ryan and her husband, Robert Andrew Ryan, and their son: Andres Nehalem Ryan; her nephews, Juan Ramon Sierra Torres and Jose de la Luz Sierra Torres.
