Not sure what to say?

Stan was such a mensch. I worked at The Oregonian from 1978-80. I loved talk to him in the newsroom and he always provided me with sage advice. So sorry to hear of his passing.

I write this memory intended for Mike Federman. I work with Mike at UPS for a couple of years. Then Mike graduated and took a job at Goldendale Sentinel Newspaper. Mike had mentioned that his father wrote for the Oregonian. I'm hoping this is the right Mike and note finds him well.

A war hero, a great journalist, a great coach. Stan Federman was one of the greatest men I have ever known. I feel enriched just to have known him. He will be sorely missed.

I worked with Stan in the newsroom for many years, sometimes a few feet away. I came to admire Stan as a good and thoughtful person, as someone who cared deeply about his family, and as a terrific reporter. I am privileged to have known Stan and to have learned from him. I offer my deepest condolences to the family.

Stan was a true mensch.

I first met Stan as a young labor lobbyist and then state representative in the Oregon House. While we didn't have a lot of contact he was always direct, focused, considerate and professional. In time I learned of his June 6, 1944 experience and have ever since felt fortunate--and indebted--to have been acquainted with someone who was there and lived to tell the tale as he did so well on the 30th anniversary of that day. I went to Normandy, stood on that beach, and thought about an 18 year...

A real pro . Got his facts and presented them in clear and interesting manner. A fine person with high ethics and a joyful sense of humor.

I was one of the many "littles" that Mr. Federman coached in little league. He had infinite patience and he cared. He imparted so many lessons about perseverance, believing in yourself and being there for your teammates. The best of team sports. I will never forget him. I'm so sorry for Mike (our former catcher) and Dave (a couple years ahead of us and a great athlete). He'll always be Mr. Federman to me. He'll live forever with me.

Great colleague and an amazing example of a true newsman
