Stan Rice

Stan was my teacher. With that I'm saying much more than just "Stan taught me creative writing during 2 years of poetry independent study at SFSU in the 80s." His written critiques of my poems were so nuanced, so insightful, so much more than just "how to make a better poem" (more like "how to make a better you"), that I have kept all our correspondence, which he wrote by hand, & still read sections of it occasionally all these years later for the eloquence of his lessons in How to See. People "touch" your life for a reason.....firstly, for me, it was Anne Rice and her spell-binding fantasy novels....now, also, it is Stan Rice...sad that he has passed...his painting and poetry I'm not sure I understand but I know I want to explore them more thoroughly...

I just learned of Mr.Rice's death after reading about it on Mrs.Rice's website.

I am so sorry for your loss. May his spirit triumph over death.

As an avid fan of Mrs. Rice's books, I did not learn of her husbands death until I went on a Garden District tour last week. My deepest condolences go out to the family on their loss of a great man.

Je m'interresse rarement a la vie des autres, mais quand il s'agit d'Anne Rice je ne peut m'en empêcher tout me chanboule du debut jusqu'a la fin. Depuis que Stan Rice est mort chaque année a la date de sa mort j'ai une pensé pour lui et pour tout ce qu'Anne Rice a du faire pour surmonter toute sa peine. Je sais ce que ca fait de perdre quel qu'un qu'on aime et je suis de tout coeur avec toi!!!
