Stan Stanley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 30, 2016.
November 3, 1941 – March 29, 2016

Stan was the sweetest man in the world. His signature was always: "How can I help you?"
Karl, you were the son he never had, and he was the dad you never had.
Michelle, Reesa, and Rhonda, his beautiful daughters. He was so proud of you and the fine young women you have become.
And his four grandchildren, he enjoyed seeing you grow up and had so much fun with all of you at the lake on Thunder and Lightning! And Reese, so proud you are an Eagle Scout.
Scouting was his hobby, but serving others was his full time affection.
He has left some very big footprints in Katy, Texas. There are 271 aspen walking sticks in the hands of many of you because you are an Eagle Scout.
His signature is on the shirts of thousands of boys and girls at Stanley Elementary, and he loved you, everyone. He was honored to have a school named Stan C. Stanley Elementary. And the Scout Troop 1103-his birthday: November 3.
The first great gift we can bestow on others is a good example. Stan gifted many with an exemplary example of excellence in caring and loving others.
When God measures the greatness of an individual, he puts the tape measure around the heart. Go out now and be an example to all in what you say, in the way you live, in loving others, in leading your family … and be a person of integrity. Go and be an example to others that would make Stan so proud of you! The loving legend of Stan Stanley will live on through each of you.

Patsy, what a wonderful tribute to Stan and yourself we witnessed today. He touched so many people and made a permanent impact on both young and old. My son would not be an Eagle Scout if not for Stan. Thank you sharing him with all of us. We are forever grateful of your generosity.

Dear Mrs. Stanley
We are thinking of you and wishing you comfort in your time of sorrow. Just know that you have a community of love that is here for you at SSE! My family has loved getting to know the both of you at church and up at the school. I have done the yearbook for the school the last 4 yrs. It has always amazed me how involved the two of you were. You would show up to everything from Eureka science to the 5th grade play. I loved capturing the love and excitement the children had whenever the two of you were there. True celebrities!! Please don't stop coming around! Mr. Stanley will always be remembered and the light that he spread to all of the children at SSE will be passed on for generations.

One of my first meetings with Stan was when my company was considering using a sign for our building and sought his company's expertise. We mutually concluded that it wasn't really necessary but it was his integrity that was immediately apparent.

I was fortunate to work with Stan several times after that around the community and experienced more integrity and other great core values that he lived by. It was an honor watching him for a few years together on the Chamber of Commerce Board, being a partner with him during the Katy Courier newspaper venture, and Denise and I participating with him on several Eagle Scout Board of Reviews for our Troop 584. He always brought quality and a touch of class to everything he did.

Stan, you have positively touched so many people in so many different ways and will be missed. Your legacy will certainly live on.

Mr. Stanley had an amazing gift of making people feel welcome and inspired people to be their best. His visits to the school always put a smile on the kids' faces. It has been an honor to teach at Stanley Elementary and have my children be apart of the Stanley Stampede. May God bless his family.

Dear Patsy,
It was with great sorrow that we leaned of Stan's passing. His smile and passion will be sorely missed. It meant a lot to Connor and his family when Stan agreed to act as MC for his Court of Honor. Like so many other selfless acts, it wasn't something Stan had to do but something he did in service to others. And it was always a joy to see the two of you together; the love and affection you felt for each other was obvious. And, as we all know, behind every great man stands a great woman. God speed Stan on his journey to new life. We'll look forward to his welcoming smile and greeting when our time comes to enter Heaven's Gate. May God keep you and your family in your time of mourning.

Patsy and the girls,

Stan was one of the finest United Methodist men and Scout/Scouter that God produced. It was an honor to know him, to serve with him and to laugh with him. I know he is with our God in heaven but my heart aches, as does the entire Stanley family. Please know that your family is being covered in prayer during the loss of Stan.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Ado, Mr. Stanley "The Leader of the Band"

Urban legend notes that on the day the tallest tree in the forest falls- stillness subsumes creation to the forest edges.

When Giants fall, time stands equally as still.

With a broken heart, we bid ado to the tallest Stampeder of them all. A Giant of a man, whose commitment and connection to his community will endure forever.

We'll miss his hi-fives, the drop-ins, autographs on lunch boxes and word of wisdom. We'll miss his presence in our halls - but he'll be forever in our hearts.

Laying a Giant to rest is agonizing. Giants live with the unique ability to impact and influence others in incredible ways. It is that influence which survives them.

Another Giant before he passed away noted 'The Giants Creed' most simply, "Having eaten fruit, harvested from trees, grown from seeds I never planted; I spent my life planting seeds, that will grow trees, which will bear fruit- I'll never see harvested. That was the responsibility of my life's work".

Through the pain and darkness of this day - we shall rise, assembling to do the powerful work of planting more seeds. On these hallowed grounds, for generations to come- we will educate young minds, all in your name- Stan C. Stanley.

Stanley, stand, heads held hi- proud to serve as living legacy to the man, the Giant!

Mr. Stanley you will be greatly missed!

Patsy and family...it's difficult to wrap our minds around the fact that we won't be running into Stan all over Katy enjoying his wonderful smile and the kind words he always had to offer. He was the perfect gentleman with the biggest heart. If you looked up serving others in the dictionary, I'm sure his picture would be the definition. We will miss him terribly as will our community. He will live on in all his good works. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
