Dr. Lehmberg a kind, thoughtful, and encouraging advisor. I was lucky to have him accept me as his student. . Although my thematic interests were different, we soon learned that we had similar research instincts. I was not your typical graduate student, but Dr. Lehmberg supported me all of the time.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and their loss.

Stan Lehmberg was one of my mentors in the Ph.D. program at Minnesota and a valued and cherished friend. I owe what success I've had in no small part to him. I was so sad to hear of his passing - my condolences to the Lehmberg family.

I am a friend of Stanford's from junior high and high school. I had always thought to write to him and thank him for the encouragement he gave me to write and to do what I was interested in. He was the only one who seemed to recognize that I really loved writing and music. But he was so far above me in his talents and accomplishments that I was timid in writing. Now it is too late. So I want to send condolances and sincere sympathy to his wife and family, because I know they will miss...

Professor Lehmberg was one of my favorite teachers at the U of M. I found his lectures in English history mesmerizing, and took as many of his classes as I could squeeze into my schedule. Those classes really opened an 18-year-old's eyes to the charms of history. My condolences to the Lehmberg family.

I took several classes from Prof. Lehmberg at the University of Minnesota and had the privilege of knowing a fine scholar and a delightful human being. He was always so supportive of and interested in his students and took great joy in sharing his love of history and music. A sad loss, indeed.

Sincere condolences to Dr. Lehmberg's family...so very sorry for this huge loss. The Lehmbergs were our neighbors for years, and Dr. Lehmberg was one of my all-time favorite professors at the U. Coincidentally, I am teaching a course right now on music of the English Renaissance (he and I shared a love for this music), and will devote the rest of the term to his memory.
