Not sure what to say?

I will always miss Stanley

Our most enduring memories of Stan will always be connected with quiet conversations and late nights on the porch of the Marble Mansion. His passion for local history, unabashed patriotism, generosity of spirit were never diluted. Stan Alday, an extraordinary American and an extraordinary friend will be missed by many but none more so than those in England who were privileged enough to have him call them friend.

My Daughter Liz had her wedding at the Marble Mansion in July of 2005. We were the first group to hold a wedding on site and provided a proof of concept to Stan that it was a great place to have a wedding. As a result we spent many a get away weekend at the mansion and considered Stan a great friend. Stan will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Leslie & I enjoyed many an evening or two staying with Stan at the Inn & just chatting. We just found out about Stan's passing when we stopped by the Inn to say hello. The world can ill afford losing people of Stan's calibre. GOD love you.

With remarkable kindness and a generous spirit, Stan walked alongside a couple of nervous, know-nothing, first-time homebuyers and helped us with the purchase of our first house. We remember Stan with great fondness and extend our sympathies to his family and loved ones. --Lanny and Betty Conley

Stan was a very good friend and a very giving man to all. Fair Haven will miss this gentle man. He owned the Marble Mansion Inn on West Park Place located in Fair Haven, Vermont. He enjoyed opening the doors of his home to guests from far and near, and loved to stay up chatting until the wee hours of the morning. He demonstrated his compassion for people in many ways. Sometimes, when people just needed a helping hand, he allowed them to share his home. Other times, he went to the toy store...

Myron, Yvonne and Terry,
So many years since I last saw you and Stan. I am so very sad to hear of his passing.
Stan and I had some fun years in DeLaney Park, Alday's Hallmark Store...and those wonderful ventures to auctions and antique stores. I am happy to know he settled in Vermont, and was the 'Lord of the Manor' of his own B & B. The perfect setting for him! I can see him now, pipe in hand, opening the door to old and new friends...with his H..E...L...L...O.
His footprints have...

Stan you were a very special friend. I will miss you forever and will remember all the special times we shared, especially in Vermont.
May you now rest eternally in God's hands. Chuck Bell

my days of knowing Stan, date back to when his father worked for Orange State Casket Co., prior to founding Mann Alday Casket Co. I worked for Hawthorne Funeral Home prior to working for my father-in-law, Neil Franklin at Carey Hand Chapel. Stan was a fine person and have not had contact with him since 1980 at which time we moved to Sebring, FL. Sorry for your loss. Terrill & Judy Morris
