Not sure what to say?

It was Dr. Bartus who called late one night to say they had a kidney for me. He was very matter-of-fact advising me to come that night to the ED and would do my surgery in the morning. This, while my wife danced around the room. "Is it a good match", I asked?. "It's a good match" was all he answered. That was 38 years ago. I am grateful for Dr. Bartus for his caring, integrity and skill.

To the Bartus Family: I had the honor of working with Dr. Bartus on Bliss 5 East at Hartford Hospital. He was a wonderful mentor and brilliant surgeon. He will be missed deeply. May your loving memories bring you peace in the days to come.

A great friend, a great colleague, and a great man. It was a privilege to have known him and worked with him. I miss him. Dr Mark Izard

Stan will always be my example of a life well lived. He balanced his surgical demands with his family life in a remarkable way. He touched his patient's lives but was still very present for his beautiful family. He and Mickey were a dynamic duo, raising a family and balancing the demands of a busy practice all with grace and good humor. He left us all with many good memories and stories to retell and smile. Stan truly knew how to savor life, we are richer for having shared some of his time.

I had the privilege to work along side Dr. Bartus in the O.R. at Hartford Hospital back in the 60's, 70's. It was an honor to be asked to become a Kidney Transplant Team member when the program was in its infancy stages. To this day, I can remember the overwhelming feeling everyone on Dr. Bartus's recipient team had and the success of the surgery.

My sincere condolences to Dr. Bartus's family. His long life should be celebrated as an achievement to his...

I am one of the lucky ones who had the honor of working for Dr.Batus at Hartford Transplant Associates. He was a brilliant man; kind, nurturing and always willing to listen and lend a helping hand. His love for life and his family and patients was reflected in all that he did. He was a giver of wise advice and deep compassion. I remaniss about him often because he was truly a great influence in my life.
My condolences to his wonderful family. He truly loved each and every one of you...

Dear Christine and Family, I was so saddened to read this morning that your Dad has passed. I'm glad I got a chance to meet him and please know my thoughts and sympathies are with you all at this time. Love, Al Glass
