Stanley Jay Kaminsky

Professor Kaminsky taught me informal logic. It wouldn´t be an exaggeration to say he taught me how to think analytically. He was a passionate and kind and witty philosopher. I think of him often. My deep commiserations,

I don't know what prompted me today to look up Professor Kaminsky. I was so sorry to read of his passing. He was that quirky, wonderful, compassionate human being who happened to be a favorite professor in my major. I especially recall his kindness during a difficult period for me at Union. His kindness dwarfed even his impressive intellect. Which is the highest praise I can offer. Baruch dayan ha emet.

My condolences to Professor Kaminsky's family--I am so sorry to learn of your loss. Professor Kaminsky was my thesis advisor in 1984-85, after I had taken several classes with him during my first few years at Union. He was a wonderful advisor/teacher--challenging, funny, and brilliant--and a person of great compassion and integrity.

To the Kaminsky Family. I am so sorry for your loss. I want you to know what an extraordinary Professor and person he was. He molded the minds and lives of Union students for years and was a favorite professor of many. I loved his philosophy class and he developed my analytical and thought process forever. I am forever in his debt I am sure he will be missed every day.

A smart, unique and engaging 1975 Union classmate. I would have loved being his philosophy student. He certainly met my late genius father, if there is a heaven, arriving on the occasion of his 99th birthday.

I first met Stanley through my brother-in-law, Jeff. I remember Stanley's love of science fiction and how he got nieces Laurel and Natalie interested in reading science fiction books. I appreciated his great imagination in the story he contributed to our "family stories" book for Natalie's bat mitzvah.

My sister, Betty Siegel, and I knew Stanley since kindergarten at P.S. 16. What stood out with Stanley was his brilliance----he was always way ahead of everyone else in that regard. I had the pleasure of getting to know Stanley much better when we worked on the Albany High School Yearbook as seniors. It was then that I appreciated the different sides to him.
