The Christian Benevolent Funeral Home, Inc., announces with deepest sympathy the transition of Mr. Stanley Allen McDowell.
Stanley Allen McDowell passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 in Rancho Cordova, CA, at the Sacramento VA Medical Center located in Rancho Cordova, CA where he resided for the past four years.
Stanley was born July 18, 1958 in Mobile, AL to the late Mr. Doc McDowell and Willie Pearl Matthews McDowell, he was the youngest of their seven children. Stanley is a 1977 graduate of Mattie T. Blount High School. After graduating, he attended Carver State Technical College in Mobile, AL to study Welding. Upon completing this course of study, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1980, and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA.
Stanley’s service with the Marines included four years (1980-1984) of Active service and two years in the Marines National Reserves until 1986. During his active duty he completed two years of college and traveled on behalf of the Marines to Thailand, Japan and the Philippines . After completing his tour of duty, he chose to remain in CA, where he lived for forty years.
Stanley’s career after his time in the Marines was providing security services to several High Tech companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was a Security Officer for a number of years at Silicon Valley Companies which included Hewlett-Packard, Apple and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Most of his career as a Security Officer was spent at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale, CA. He retired from LMAC in 2016 after more than twenty years of service. After retiring, Stanley relocated to Rancho Cordova, CA. He loved collecting, working on and driving cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed sporting his Harley Davidson motorcycle, dressed in the finest attires that Harley Davidson offered in their showcases.
Stanley, who was divorced and had no children was a loving, fierce, carefree individual who was devoted to his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Willie Pearl McDowell and brothers Theodore McDowell and Anderson Shoemaker. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories five siblings: Bessie McDowell Stephens (John), Atlanta, GA; Helen McDowell Borden, Atlanta, GA; Dock McDowell (Cynthia), Nashville, TN; Willi McDowell Hogg (Richard), Monroe, N.C; and Charlotte McDowell Montgomery, Atlanta, GA; a devoted nephew and family Vincent McDowell (Helen), Los Gatos, CA; Kevin Lewis (Pheona), Plano, TX; Michael Borden (Monica), Atlanta, GA; Dock McDowell lll, Chicago, IL; Brandon Montgomery, San Diego, CA; nieces Dallin McDowell and Chelsea Hogg Allen, (Manual) both Atlanta, GA, Tina Shoemaker Smith (James) of Loganville, GA, Carla Shoemaker Owens (Henry), Tamika Shoemaker, Chinisha Shoemaker, all of Miami, FL and a host of great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Stanley’s fun loving spirit, compassionate heart and determination lives on in our hearts.
