Not sure what to say?

I knew Stan in the Army in 1969-70. We were in the Army Security Agency, and our paths crossed at Goodfellow AFB in Texas. I had been in the Army for 3 years at that point and had spent a year in Thailand. He had made a trip to Japan before entering the Army and was gushing with enthusiasm about it. The most noticeable characteristic about Stan was his positive attitude and a "can-do" approach. We planned a trip to Mardi Gras for Feb. 1970. He didn't have the money for the trip at that point,...

unforgettable sensei from Buenos Aires, Argentina

I just learned about Mr. Pranin's passing. My name is Michael (Mick) Lovett. I studied with Mr. Pranin for four years at the University of Santa Cruz, California--back when the "dojo" was held on the dirty and funky mats in the below level wrestling rooms then on campus. Previously, I was a student of Mel Stuart at the Mission Rebels dojo in San Francisco. I joined the Santa Cruz group with Stan along with Frank Doran, Robert Nadeau, Greg Brodsky and Bob Frager in 1972. Among other things, he...

Thank you very much Stan, for a lifetime of dedication, intelligence, serenity, kindness... serving Aikido and Budo !!! My heart goes out in prayer that a new chapter starts to be written by you, at the Heavenly dojos !!! Domo arigato gozaimashita Pranin sensei!!! My heart reaches out for your family as well...

Rest in peace and thanks for your contribution to the aikidos world

This humble condolence. I had the honour to meet Mr Pranin only once in Paris during a visit of Saito Sensei. He was very kind to me and accessible.
His books and videos are among the most important to me for a right understanding of my Aikido practice.
May he rest in peace.

A Poem
The rising sun opens the door
For open hearts to find their core
Sensei Stan was always in the zone

Stanley... so many good thoughts come back to me when I saw his name.
Stan was my best friend during my years at Cabrillo Avenue Elementary School. We were in Cub Scouts together. His mom, Lois, was our Den Mother.
Stan and I spent many an hour together working on our trading card and stamp collections. We also enjoyed being young together, spending summers enjoying baseball and doing all
the goofy things 8-11 year old San Pedro boys did back then. Maybe Crawdad fishing at Averill...
