Not sure what to say?

Joyce and I have been in Palm Springs for the winter and just heard about the death of our dear friend, Stan. He was a very important part of our life and we learned to have great love and respect for Stan and Mary Ellen. We will always have fond memories of our association. Fred & Joyce Ball

I enjoyed playing basketball and other sports with "Brother Stan" and his brother Cal. As my bishop, he called me to serve as a missionary in Brazil, which became one of the highlights of my life. He was competitive but kind, friendly and fun, diligent and dedicated, happy and humble. So many good memories!

I have many memories of working for the Smoots in 1990. I remember Shandell coming home from his mission and I see the resemblance with his father's younger obituary photo. I know Stan Smoot loved Centerville, the gospel of Jesus Christ, he was proud of his family, cared for and loved his wife, he loved people and talking to them. He was happy about his time spent in Ohio as a Mission President. He would talk about the growth in Centerville and how far we could go east and hit the...

June and I share your loss and send our love. We so much enjoyed being in your presence.

I first met Stan many years ago when he was my seminary teacher at Bountiful High School, and I have admired and loved him ever since. He was an amazing seminary teacher. He loved the gospel and Jesus Christ, and we all knew it. And that love grew and expanded into remarkable public service to his church and community. He was a visionary leader to both Davis County and the business community. John and I feel privileged to have known Stan, and even more privileged to have worked with him...

Dear Smoot Family,
You are a wonderful family and a great example to each of us. We love your father and his kindness. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

I was sorry to hear of President Smoot's passing. Sister Smoot, you and President welcomed me into the Ohio Akron mission and taught me what it meant to be a full-time missionary. I have such wonderful memories of the love you two had for all of us. May the Lord be with and bless your wonderful family during this time as you reflect upon the great legacy that has been left to you.

All my love, Elder Spencer Merrill

Dear Mary Ellen and family,
You are such a special family I know you will be blessed with peace and joy at this time. I have the flu and can't come to the funeral. I'm so sorry!!! May you all be blessed with wonderful memories and his spirit. Sis. Beth Lawrence (Jerry would wish you the best too)

Stan's sweet nature and always ready smile will be missed.
