Not sure what to say?

Visiting Alaska and saw this plaque at Independence gold mine, outside Palmer, Alaska. Thanks for your donation.

Starkey´s late in life visits to Alaska are still missed. A true gentleman. I think he would be amazed at progress made now in Unalaska on geothermal and I´m sure he would have loved to see it.

Thinking of Uncle Starkey often with fond memories, I wish I could have had more time with you. Still missing you.

Starkly Wilson is remembered with love and admiration. I was his travel agent for several years and he was truly one of my very favorite people. He was kind, generous, and adventurous. He would come up with new ideas for traveling in Alaska and then bring me all kinds of information on it to help me make it happen. I worked for Starkey as a volcano/geothermal scientist and also considered him my friend. Starkey was a man of vision and delightful character.

I was Starkey's travel agent for a while and I adored the man. He was kind and considerate and always so willing to help. I have had him on my mind lately and just found this. I am saddened at the news. He was a good man and someone who will be missed greatly by all who knew him. My life is better for having known Starkey Wilson. And I grateful for that. May you dance in heaven and i hope to meet you up there when I arrive!

Dear Family,
I would like to express on behalf of the Saalfield Family our deepest sympathy for your great loss. our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Sandy Saalfield

Starkey was a true gentleman, a pioneer, a creative genius. As an Alaskan, I cherish his gift of Independence Mine at Hatcher Pass. He taught us much about geothermal also. He will be missed.
