STAVROS SOCRATES FRANTZIS

Today I had a friend visit me from Boston to California . I just found out of his passing. i had the privledge of knowing this man, from the seventies kept in touch from time to time . A man full of adventure with a great sense of humor. I am deeply saddened but know he did live life to the fullest. Rosaleen California/.

Stavros was my hero. A man of the world with his feet planted squarely in "his" town of Jamaica Plain. As a real estate developer, Stavros was the quiet hand of reason, fairness, and good will in the Hyde Sq. revival.

We were friends at Northwestern University, along with my future wife, Alcestis Demetra Ritsos of Chicago. With a letter of introduction from Stavros, I showed up at the door of his parents on Mytilene, in August 1968, and was welcomed as their own son. In later years we lost track of him, and vice versa.

I am so sorry. I just learned of Stavros's passing. I first met him almost 20 years ago when I was at my first job out of college at the Gazette. I also saw some of his artwork. Shortly thereafter I moved to Roslindale and started volunteering with RVMS. I learned about all of the commercial property he owned and how he was willing to work with us to improve the community. My condolences to his family and friends.

A brilliant mind has moved on, Stavros never failed to challenge those around him to think a little deeper. My sympathies to Doris, Renzo and the rest of family. I will miss him deeply.
