On Wednesday, April 8, 2015, Mr. Steffond Swilley, Jr., our beloved son, brother, grandchild, and nephew suddenly departed this earth at VCU/MCV Medical Center, Richmond, VA. He confessed at an early age and became a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va. He was a member of the Youth Bible Study and the church basketball team.
Steffond was born on June 1, 1998 in Petersburg, VA. He was a junior at Petersburg High School. He was a former member of the Petersburg High School Marching Band. He was also a member of the Family Community Career Leaders of America (FCCLA) and the Crimson Café Culinary Team. Steffond Jr. enjoyed spending time with his dad every weekend, shopping, eating out, riding motorcycle, and working with the lawn care business. His favorite team was the Philadelphia Eagles. Steffond Jr. enjoyed music, XBOX video games, watching and playing sports.
He was preceded in death by his PAPA, Theodore W. Lawrence, and his grandparents, William E. Swilley and Essie M. Swilley.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his mother, Theodora Lawrence; father, Steffond Swilley Sr. (Deadra); sisters, Courtney S. Swilley of Petersburg, VA, Steffonie Swilley of Indiana, and Deja Spivey of Dinwiddie, VA; a brother, Isaiah Swilley of Richmond, VA; grandmother, Barbara A. Pope of Sutherland, VA; aunts and uncles, Jewel and Russell Lawrence of Petersburg, VA, Crystal Lawrence of Newark, DE, David and Mattie Swilley, Jacqueline Prescott, Lovette Swilley, Yvonne Hubbard, James ?Tamp? Swilley, and Tyrone Swilley all of Michigan; godparents, Curtis and Iris Matthews, and a host of cousins and friends, among them devoted friends, Jamil Dudley and Ahmad Moss.
Services for Mr. Steffond Swilley, Jr. will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Avenue, Va. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
The family will assemble 11:00 A.M., the day of the service and receive friends at 1342 Steel Street, Petersburg, Va.
