I had the pleasure of visiting with Stella a few times over the past few years as part of a well coordinated effort by her family. She was so appreciative. She was so thankful for her family and community. A young mother in 1938 with two babies when the area flooded she remembered that she was home alone while her husband was away. She had her two little ones and her hands full as she ran out of milk/food and he was unable to make it home. A gift to hear that story from someone who lived it...
