Dr Moreno was a wonderful mentor and friend to me during a stressful time in Ellensburg and we maintained our friendship after I left there. When I learned of her passing, I was deeply saddened. I truly hope she loved being back in Colombia even if it was for just a short time. Rest in peace dear Stella.

I also had Senora Moreno for Spanish classes while in college. My husband (a Spanish major) and I had just begun dating and she relished teasing me (with a twinkle in her eye) about that, in Spanish of course. As someone who stayed in Ellensburg after graduating, I saw her occasionally through the years after that and was sad to hear of her sudden passing. She was a treasure and a light.

I enrolled in Dr Moreno's class during her first year at CWU. It is hard to believe that was 30 years ago. Ever since, I've admired her and the courses that I took from her. She was a rigorous teacher and scholar. She was a poet. I am thankful that I was lucky enough to be taught by her.
