Not sure what to say?

Will never forget Mrs. Whitehead. My mother (Ruth E. Layman) shared a memory with me once, after being asked to teach at the school...I wish I could remember the exact words that Mrs. Whitehead said to her, but because of her inspiring words, my mother agreed to accept the position. Her influence lives on through many nurses today. God bless.

I am from the graduating class of December 1985. Unfortuneately, I was not under the direction of Mrs. Whitehead, but we all felt her influence. My mother was a nursing instructor there during the time Mrs. Whitehead was the director. She and my mother were good friends, and my mother went to be with Jesus, September 2009. When I heard of Mrs. Whitehead's passing, I imagined them sharing a hug in heaven! :-) She was a beautiful, gracious lady. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at...

Dearest Family and Friends of Stella Whitehead,

I was in the graduating class of 1966 and was very proud to be under Mrs. Whitehead's direction. Even though I live in Md, I have been fortunate to visit with Mrs. Whitehead at the annual picnics at Newport News Park. I'll never forget Mrs. Whitehead for her professionalism and being such a gentle and fine person. My husband, Wilbur, and I extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends.

My sympathy and condolences to the family and loved ones of Mrs. Whitehead. I greatly appreciated her high standards and role model she was, and am honored to be a graduate of Riverside Hospital Sch. of Nursing. I graduated in 1963. Than later became a Nurse Midwife and retired after almost 30 years of Obstetical Nursing.

I'm from the class of 1977 and remember a very professional lady. She was the ultimate role model for nurses everywhere. I have so many fond memories of Mrs. Whitehead and Riverside Hospital School of Professional Nursing.

Mrs. Whitehead was a wonderful example of integrity, caring, and high standards of care in nursing. I am thankful that I had the privilege of attending Riverside Hospital School of Nursing under her tenure. I extend my deepest sympathy in your loss. Class of 1971

My sincere sympathy to Mrs. Whiteheads family. She was a women who set the standards for integrity and professionalism for all of us. I was in the class of 1967 which gave her a few extra challanges she had not planned on. We were certainly a mischievious bunch.

I am a graduate of the class of 1967. I too have many fond memories of my time spent RSPN amd of the excellent help from Mrs. Whitehead. I want to extend my sympathy & prayers to the family.

I, too, am a graduate of the class of 1967 at Riverside Hospital School of Nursing. I remember Mrs. Whitehead as a strong administrator who took pride in the appearance, poise, and skills of "professional" nurses. She encouraged me when things got rough in Chemestry and showed she believed in me. I went on to get a Master of Public Health Degree and enjoyed a career that included international public health.
