Stephanie Becker Obituary

Becker, Stephanie
Stephanie Rachel Becker, 28, passed away on October 4, 2012. She was intelligent and beautiful - inside and out. Her love and affection for family and friends permeated all her relationships and there was nothing she wouldn't do for the people she loved. Her infectious smile, contagious laugh and charisma made everyone feel special. She was passionate and energetic, and her optimistic can-do attitude was magnetic. Stephanie graduated Magna Cum Laude from UPenn (BA 2006, Annenberg School of Communication). She excelled at IBM for six years, where she was a Managing Consultant. While at IBM, Stephanie earned her MBA from NYU Stern Business School in 2012. Stephanie was honored by the Jewish Heritage Programs (JHP) in 2011. A graduate of Westhill High School, she was a Managing Editor of The Westword Newspaper, and was a three sport Varsity Captain of tennis, track, and soccer. She was honored to represent a U.S. soccer team internationally and was also a winner of the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache Award. She is survived by parents Jonathan & Patti, brother Michael, sister Julie, and grandparents Joan Rubenstein and Frances Becker. She will forever live in our hearts and through the wonderful memories she gave us. Services will be held on Sunday at 1 PM at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT. As a friend from the recent chapter of her life at NYU, I had the pleasure of spending time with Stephanie over the last 2-3 yrs. Among her many positive qualities, she was smart, fun, friendly, well spoken, well dressed, and well liked. I pray for the Becker family, and hope that in some small way, I can carry her torch. Dear Becker family,

The news of Stephanie's untimely passing was quite a shock. Stephanie and I worked together, side-by-side, at IBM in the same cubicle at our wonderful client, CenterPoint Energy. She was part of our little gang that was known as the "IBM Pod". She was such a delightful person to know - her sweet smile and easy laughter, her charming looks and upbeat personality, and yes even the gum chewing - these were all things I will remember about her. I am sure that you will also have your own special memories. And so my wish for you is that you have the strength to get through this time of grief and tears and move beyond it - to that time where you only cherish the fond memories of Stephanie, without the pain of loss. If there is something special that you do to honor her memory, I would very much like to know how I can take part. She had a short life - but touched many people in a very positive way.

October 12, 2012

Please accept my sincerest condolences. I worked closely with Stephanie when I was at IBM-- from when she started straight out of Penn. We collaborated on an article, worked on projects together and spent time on the road at clients. She brought a passion, intelligence and enthusiasm to her work that was infectious. She was a positive force both inside and outside our work, and I will miss her. My hope is that in your tragic loss that you find some solace in the fact that Stephanie positively impacted people wherever she went and many folks from across the country mourn for your loss.

Dear Patti, Jon, Michael, Julie,
Our family is in utter shock and cannot fathom this precious, lively, talented daughter of Stamford is no more. Stephanie had everything going for her..adoring family, successful career, huge network of friends, and a life where she worked hard, payed hard and gave back to society. While there are no words can adequately comfort you, may you find some peace in knowing that she made a major difference in the world in 28 short years and thousands of people will miss her immensely. Michael's idea of creating a fund in his darling sister's honor and to help other overachievers is brilliant. In due course perhaps a link can be added to this website as well.
Our deepest sympathy, tears and prayers are with each of you,
