Colonial Funeral Homes - Brick Obituary

Stephanie M. Bick, 50, of Hopatcong, passed away quietly in her sleep on January 22, 2022.  Stephanie was born in Point Pleasant on April 17, 1971, was raised in Brick Township, and also resided in Point Pleasant, before settling in Hopatcong 10 years ago.

Always generous with her time and energies, Stephanie’s abbreviated life evidenced her care for others and her commitment to serving the public.  Beginning in her teens, she was a long-time volunteer EMT for Community First Aid in Brick, NJ.  Stephanie went on to work as an EMT, including for the National Park Service, assigned to Liberty Island and Ellis Island, where she quickly made good friends, and also found her two furry and steadfast companions, Mojito and Guinness.  In 2009 Stephanie was proud to become an officer with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.  Throughout her career she has worked in the Patrol Bureau.  She was a member of the Hudson County Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Unit.  She excelled in crash investigation and worked her way to become a crash reconstructionist.  During her career, Stephanie received Unit Citations and other awards for her investigative work with this team, including recognition by the 200 Club of Hudson County.  Stephanie was dedicated to her work, earned the respect of her colleagues and enjoyed their friendship.

Stephanie had an enthusiasm for life.  She was a spirited part of many activities and adventures, from bike rides, beach walks and hikes around New Jersey, to travels around Europe, Alaska, Florida and wherever she had the chance to visit family and see new places.  She was also a creative cook and talented baker.  Stephanie and her broad smile and from-scratch desserts were a popular and welcome addition to any party or family get-together.  Her treats were much-enjoyed by family and co-workers over the years.  She enjoyed visiting farmers’ markets and supporting local farms, craft food sellers and local wineries.

Among Stephanie’s varied interests were her appreciation and enjoyment of nature and the outdoors.  Although she was often at odds with hungry deer, birds and other wildlife over the fruits of her gardening efforts, she delighted in their presence in her yard, neighborhood and on the hikes she enjoyed at parks and beaches wherever she went.  Caring for and the preservation of the environment was a cause close to Stephanie’s heart.

Stephanie was very much loved by her family, friends and others she touched.  She will be sorely and deeply missed.

Stephanie is survived by her parents, Anne Bick of Brick, and George and Debra Bick of Homosassa, FL. She is also survived by her sister, Catherine Bick and husband George Martin of Point Pleasant, two brothers, George Bick and wife Kazue of Chesapeake, VA and Michael Bick of Hernando, FL, as well as her two beloved nieces, Amy and Emily, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 28, 2022 4-8 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home 2170 Hwy 88, Brick, NJ.  The family respectfully requests that visitors wear masks.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Stephanie’s memory to the National Park Foundation.

Stephanie, thank you for being a part of our family. Thank you for always being such a beautiful person. You will be missed tremendously. I’ll always remember your hype up when I was running to prep for basic. Rest In Peace Beautiful lady! ❤

I was shocked to hear of Stephanie’s passing. I worked with her at the Statue of Liberty and memories of her outgoing personality and kindness will forever remain with me. She seemed to be everywhere, that is why I told her she was u-BICK-quitous. She was so special and I will forever see her in my mind giving out homemade treats for Easter wearing bunny ears. To have known her, was a gift I am thankful for.

Stephanie was a wonderful person and always such a pleasure when speaking to her, I will miss her. Thank you Stephanie for being so kind.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. Work will not be the same
