Stephen Macy Ackerman, Sr.

Saratoga Springs, NY - Stephen Macy Ackerman Sr. passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021.

Stephen was born in Newburgh, New York on November 15, 1950. He was a devoted father and grandfather; a dedicated Christian and enjoyed serving his community volunteering at his church’s food pantry and soup kitchen for many years. Stephen was also proud to serve his community as a firefighter with the Walden Fire Department before he was drafted in 1970.

His kind and caring heart will never be forgotten. Stephen was a generous man, always going above and beyond to help others, always willing to give something that he really liked to someone, whether they needed it or not. With his unique outgoing personality, Stephen loved making people laugh with his kind hearted pranks and funny expressions.

His proudest accomplishment was his 16 plus years serving his country in the United States Army. Staff Sergeant Ackerman had an avid military career where he did multiple tours abroad.

He is predeceased by the loving mother of his childen, Kum Ye Ko. Stephen was a loving and supportive father of his five children Nellie, Lisa, Deborah, Stephen Jr., and Jessica, who were the loves of his life. Stephen also leaves behind many grandchildren and a great-granddaughter who he loved and adored.

Relatives and friends may call 11am – 1pm Wednesday October 20, 2012 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373). A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm.

Burial with full military honors will follow at 2:30 pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
