I remember when Steven and i would sit around in the evening talking when he became my neighbor in Mosier. He really loved it there!

We were very saddened to learn of the loss of Stephen Adelman. He was our trusted Primary Care Physician for about 30 years. We always felt that we were receiving well-informed adivce and treatment and felt forunate to be under his care. We felt that we were more than just another medical case to him and enjoyed each visit with him because he also took a few minutes to visit with us. He often talked with Manny about bike riding and with me about teaching at Harriet Tubman Middle School...

I am so sorry to hear Dr. Adelman is no longer here. I expected to see him on the trails on his bike. He was my doctor at Kaiser Permanente and a loveable friend. We enjoyed talking about his music and his love of science and medicine. He touched me greatly talking about his family while taking care of me when I was sick. At times he would treat me like I was his only patient and we could spend as much time as I needed to talk about my problems. I will miss him...I'm so sorry he's gone!

Stephen I met in Buffalo New York in 1965. He was a medical resident where I was an intern. I enjoyed working with him and learning from him.
Then He moved to Portland-- I moved to Portland. I had long years of contact with him and his family.
Stephen was always a true friend and always very supportive and interesting. He was a fine physician and an inspiration to me.

Stephen was a truly gentle soul, fun loving, great personal integrity, inquisitive mind, just a wonderful human being.
Stephen and I go back to our undergrad years at Harvard. That's a long time. I can still see Stephen tootling around in his VQ bug, eating lobsters with wine and cheese on the rocks in Rockport, fighting off a porcupine at night outside an Appalachian Trail hostel in VT, playing recorder duets, reading poetry, listening to Roger Voisin of the Boston Symphony...

Deepest condolences to Freda, and to Stephen's adult children. I had the honor of knowing Stephen for almost 20 years. He was one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. Stephen remembered great details about every one of the people in my office, and had the most wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. On occasion he would share with me some of the wisdom from books he was reading. Stephen had a personality and quality of caring about others that left every one feeling...

Freda, I saw Steve 2 weeks before he passed. He was volunteering in the arboretum. He was happy and looked great. When Peggy told me he had died it was a shock. Every time I walk by where he had been working that day in the woods, I think of him and you.

Stephen was my doctor for decades. He remembered me as an individual over those years, so that when I came for my physical or other medical exams, he would ask about particulars of my life. I trusted him completely because I believed he saw me as a patient through the lens of being a person. He was a friend.
When I was in my younger years, I had some strange issues in my pelvic bones. It was scary. Dr Adelman was the calm hand on my anxiety.
