A third-generation Colorado Springs native, Stephen Leslie Bobbitt was born at Glockner-Penrose Hospital on February 15, 1950, to Harry and Madeleine Bobbitt. His parents had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and met at the Naval Air Station in Norman, Oklahoma. They married in 1944...

Not sure what to say?

Steve was my first city editor back in the '80s at the Colorado Springs Sun. Journalism school grads were a dime-a-dozen back then, but Steve never treated his new hires as throw-aways. He was an outstanding writer and reporter himself, but also possessed the rare ability to teach others. He made everyone around him better. I went on to work at bigger newspapers, but never had a bigger editor than Steve Bobbitt. I'm forever grateful.

Single Memorial Tree

I have fond memories of Steve from our days at Wasson. I loved his positive outlook and his great sense of humor. I send prayers of strength and comfort during this time. Rhonda Cowan Bryant

We moved away from CO when I was 9, but I have the best memories of living next door to Steve & Charlie. I especially remember that Steve delighted in telling dumb jokes and had a goofy, joyful sense of humor. My heart goes out to all those who are missing him.

To Barbara: I was so saddened to hear of Steve's passing. I hope that the love your shared will be a comfort to you and that his memory will be a blessing.

To the extended Bobbitt family: I know your hearts are filled with wonderful memories right now. I hope they fill you with love and happiness. I haven´t lived in Colorado Springs in a long time but when I was there a month ago I drove through the old neighborhood, I was filled with memories... the Bobbitts, the Keunnings, Delaney´s, Brinkmeyers, McBrides... they all made for a great childhood. We all had a lot of fun. I am really sorry for your loss. Reading this obituary I thought that Steve...

Bobbitt Family, I want to offer my condolences at the passing of your son and brother Steve. Though it has been many years since I last saw him, I have found myself thinking back on the old neighborhood of our collective youth often. Steve was a big part of those early years, and I´m sadden by his passing. He is in my thoughts, as are "Mrs." Bobbitt, Mike, and Charlie. Robert "Bobby" Delaney

Steve's enthusiasm, vivaciousness and "quirky sense of humor" were always a joy for his friends to experience. All of those of us who knew him will greatly miss his presence.
