Not sure what to say?

Coach Brunson used to give out free Cokes if you could do 10 of his push ups. I used to regularly get fee Cokes. I thought I was getting the better of coach, in reality he smiled knowing he was getting us to voluntarily come in outside of practice and do pushups. As a student, he was one of my favorite teachers. I have fond memories of him to this day over 50 yeas later. My condolences to the family. PS to do 10 of his push up, you went down and did one pushup, stood up then went down...

Mrs. Brunson-

Through all the years I've known Lukie, not once did I ever hear a derogatory remark about him from anyone. He was a happy go lucky guy that always had a smile on his face and the time to chat a while. I always enjoyed my Saturday visits with you and Lukie and Charlie at the nursing home while visiting my mother. Lukie was a good man and I will miss him. Take care of yourself, and I hope to see you soon!

Dear Mrs. Betty,
I am so sorry to hear of Coach Lukie's death. I have many fond memories of all of the football games we went to together when he and Daddy were coaching at McClenahan. He touched so many young people's lives and was such a fine example to so many. My sincere condolences to all of your family.

I had Coach Brunson for Mechanical Drawing class. I was the only female in the class and he always seemed to draw attention to that. His smile was infectious, and he seemed to have so much fun calling me Miss DAR, as I had received some kind of recognition with the DAR society. He always teased me about that, yet always behind that was a fun loving teacher and friend! He made me feel special with the attention. He always knew who I was too whenever I saw him later around Florence. A very...

Coach, I will always remember the hundreds of games of checkers that we played together during my time in High School. When my kids and Grand-kids ask me how I got so good, I tell them that I was taught by the best. More so, Thanks for your inspiration and encouragement. Prayers and condolences to the family.

Coach you were kind enough to put up with, and watch out for an awkward teen that decided to go out for varisty football in his junior year without ever having played the game - You were a saint. Thank you for all you did for me and may you have a team of all star's in heaven

Coach, you were the best... you left a wonderful mark on your students, and all who knew you. Blessings and peace to your the family.

To the Brunson Family,

I wish to convey my most sincere condolences on the passing of Coach Brunson. I was one of those fortunate enough to have played for him while a student at Poynor. My last year at Poynor afforded me the opportunity to start in the backfield with Jerome Andrews, Jerry Granger and Mac Harrelson. Coach convinced me during that year that I did not have to be a quarterback to be a leader. Thanks coach!
