Not sure what to say?

I was so sad to hear the news of Mr. D's passing. Some of my youngest memories include him and the Desposito family. Nursery school, your annual Christmas party (with Santa Claus), playdates with my "twin" Jen, Mr. D's voice and laugh, and on to Jr. High. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. May you find comfort in your own memories and in knowing how many lives he touched in his short life.
Warm regards,
Karin Zell

Dear Joyce and Family,
We were shocked to see in the URI alumni magazine that Steve had passed away. Steve was a great guy and we enjoyed sharing our college experiences with him. We have read with great interest the many wonderful things people have said about him in the guest book. He must have been a wonderful administrator and family man. We are thinking of you and your daughters at this difficult time. Take care of each other.

So sorry for your loss. Mr. D was a big part of my life both as my neighbor and as the V.P at SK. I can not count how many times I was in his office with him saying, hand to head, "Hawksley, Hawksley, Hawksley..." I can speak for my entire family (Hawksley and Henley) when I say that his loss has been felt and he will be missed, however his impact remains
Recently, I was gathered around a fire pit with some of my cousins and the news of Mr. D's passing came up. Some of us had not heard...

Dear Joyce, Jen and Lisa,
What respect and deep affection I/we had/have for Steve. I remember his faithful presence at the 8pm Sunday Masses at Christ the King in the '70s. Who would have known then that my own son and daughter would someday be guided and loved by Mr D as that is what he did for all his students. We are so sorry for your loss and the loss this represents for all of us
With great admiration for a wonderfully lived life....
Maura,Matt and Heather McQueeney

Mr. D. was my jr. high teacher over 30 years ago and I always remembered how fun his classes were. My condolences to his family for he will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Dear Joyce,
What a beautiful mass today! I wish I could have stayed to hug you and tell you how very sorry I am. I was so enraptured by the music, the sermon, the sighting of old college friends, the sight of your daughters. I am so blessed to have known you and Steve and to have had the opportunity to be present today.
Please call me,
Becky

There was nothing like the summer days growing up that I used to spend with my mother and Mr. D during Project Jump at South Kingstown Junior High. He joked that by the time I would go through the program as an incoming seventh grader, he would let me get up and give all his speeches about how "the junior high is not a place to fool around."

He will be sadly missed by all.

Desposito Family,

Please except my deepest condolences on your loss. Steve was a positive force. He had a particular energy of peace and a unique ability to make you believe in him and yourself. I am grateful to have known Steve and will remember some of his philosophies for life. A colleague of mine told me that Steve believed the passage of time was the solution to all problems. We will always miss him, but time will help to heal the heavy sadness you feel today.
