Stephen W. Dybas Sr. age 98, of Downers Grove, formerly of Cicero, passed away at his home of Friday, December 18 2020 with his family at his bedside. Gregory (Elizabeth) Dybas. Loving grandpa to Ian, Moe, Mary Kate, Sara, Gregory Jr. and Casey.  Fond Uncle Steve to many nieces and nephews. Born in Chicago in 1922 to Polish immigrant parents, the late Pawel and Mary (nee Kozubal) and preceded in death by his late siblings Casimir and Bruno Dybas.  Stephen was a proud US Army WWII veteran who served in the Pacific Theatre for 26 months, where his most harrowing experience came on November 11, 1943 when the US freighter S.S. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 96 in Cicero and VFW Post #1578 in Woodridge. There will be NO visitation as alkaline hydrolysis cremation process will take place privately. Not sure what to say?

Words fall short to describe my grief on the passing of Uncle Steve. My thought and prayers go out to the entire Dybas family during this difficult time.

Greg, Liz, and family - We're so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I loved seeing the pictures of you with him out to eat, knowing all the stories he had to tell you, and all the history he saw! So grateful for men like him who served our country, and raised such a great son who also served in so many ways! Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time!

Dear Dyba Family,
My sincere and deepest condolence for your lose. I wish I could pay my respects in person. I am grateful to have had the honor to know your father from when I was just a teenager. I have the fondest memories of him and your mother. Good memories that I will always cherish. I was saddened to hear that Mr. Dybas passed away. In a naive sense, I thought he would live forever. I would always look forward to hearing from Greg on how is breakfast dates went with his father. ...

Rest, my veteran friend. It was a privilege to be able to record some of your WWII service. Well done, Soldier.

Thanks Mr Dybas for helping to keep our Country free! RIP

Our deepest condolences to the Dybas family on the loss of a Dad, war hero and good guy.
