I'm sorry to learn that Steve passed away. He seemed to be fine when I saw him during my 2 week train trip. At least I got to see him. He was a good person.

I particularly remember carpooling with Steve to rehearsals and concerts in SF. He loved to drive, and I think he loved having company too. We bonded over our kids who all worked together at Williams Sonoma for a time! He was a consummate chorister and he enjoyed singing in multiple choirs at once; how lucky we were to have had him for a time in California Bach Society!

Stephen was really kind to me when I was a young girl, a friend of his daughter, Heather. I´ll miss his laughter and phenomenal sense of humor.

Steve and I worked together after he joined the Public Defender's Office. He was an outstanding writer, who wrote law motions with ease, clarity and cogently. He was an integral part of the PD's success. When I left the Office in 1990, I soon realized how much I missed him and what a wonderful colleague he was. My condolences to Bente and his children, whom He loved ardently. He was a good man. May he rest in peace.
