Not sure what to say?

I had the honor of working both with and for Steve at MBARI for a number of years. He was very ethical, and a "straight shooter". Goddess Bless him, may he Dance In Joy on the other side of the veil!

Hi, Rodney Moore here, Steve and I have known each other for 40 years. We both worked for Oceaneering in the diving division. I was in the North Sea and Steve on the US side. We got to work together training and supervising the WASP scientific dives aboard the good ship " New Horizon ". And we had many more adventures from there on. Always the best of friends in some of the most demanding and challenging offshore diving situations. I will always miss you Steve...

We send condolence and Gods peace and love . Steve was an outstanding person and left this world a better place.. Blessings Fred and Marilyn HowellMArilyn

Etch was a great guy. He hunted hogs at one of Dave Packard's properties south of Mt Hamilton and left a huge ham in the kitchen of bldg. 2 for people to carve on. We argued at times but only to get the facts out. I learned a lot from him.

I knew Steve Etchemendy for the whole time he was Director of Marine Operations at MBARI. I always had wonderful conversations with him and respected his abilities. He worked well with folks at other institutions in the bay, including Moss Landing Marine Laboratories. He will definitely be missed.
