Stephen Ferrier

I first met Steve in the mid-1990's. I worked in child care in KC and he managed that system from Central Office. He was so smart and always open to suggestions to improve the system for staff and people we served. I worked with Steve until I retired in 2023. He was fearless. I worked with Steve at SRS/DCF for many years and before he started working there, we rode the commuter van together to Topeka. I can still hear his voice - he was a unique person - so smart, engaging, funny, and always himself. We enjoyed talking about work things, but also politics and everything else - he had a very active, thoughtful mind and we had a mutual respect as we both strived at our jobs to serve our clients and try to make everything work right behind the scenes.
